Generac Q55G Low Voltage

Good afternoon! I have a 1996 Sunvoyager with a Generac Q55G. Since I bought it last spring the generator has been unreliable when attempting to kick over the Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS). I figured it was a faulty ATS so I replaced that and didn't notice much of a difference. This spring the problem was worse until one day the generator just stopped producing power while running the AC.
Upon testing with my meter, it turns out the generator is producing 2.6 volts. The breakers tested ok, and the fixed excitement test shows above half normal voltage. I followed the testing flowchart in the manual until test 9 called "check field boost". It's got me stumped.
Also, when I first turn on the generator the Automatic Voltage Regulator LED turns on for about 10 seconds then turns off.
Anyone know what the issue is, or can anyone explain to me in English how to conduct the "check field boost" test?
Thanks in advance for your assistance and advice!

Update: I tested the voltage coming off the generator during the 10 seconds the AVR's LED is on when first starting up. 14 volts AC. Then once the LED goes off, back to 2.6 volts. I'm thinking I need a new AVR (since it passed the fixed excitation test). Any thoughts or advice before I order this new part? Thanks! -SV

I can't help you either, I haven't had a Genajunk gen since we traded the 2000 DSDP off in 2002.

Use the internet to find a generact service dealer, sounds like a bad regulator in the one you have. Ours had voltage too high, burned out a TV before we got it fixed. Service shop had it tested and fixed in about an hour.

Resolution: it was the AVR. Swapped it out with a new one and had 105 volts. Then adjusted the output with the brass screw, now I've got 115 volts. And THAT means AC while boondocking. Woohoo!
