Just finished mine. 32 bucks including paint. Tested and works great. Ask if you want a list or info.

I have the "Gen-turi" also, and it works great, just don't be drillin holes in the side of your rv for the hold down straps, use two way tape and you won't end up with leaks in your RV.

Far as I'm concerned if you have a "Mounted" generator you need an exhaust extension. IT mounts on an A same as on a C.

The Gen-Turi (Camco) has a couple of mounting options that are supposed to be in the box, but alas were missing on mine.

One is suction cups.. Supposed to stick to any smooth surface.. I've not had all that good luck with suction cups over the years so the other option is "Eye bolts"

These are kind of "half loops" of metal with two screw holes that bolt to the outside wall of the motor home.. Also missing. I got some at a hardware store and painted them to match the rig.

What I have seen with my own RV.. Today it seems to be better by the way but when it was new 2 hours of generator operation with the rig parked and the CO alarm,, DID (Alarm that is) 25 with the Gen-turi and no alarm.

Yes, 25 continous hours.

LIkewise I've had my CO detector set off by the next door neighbor's generator blowing exhaust my way.

But 25 hours of generator operation and no alarm.

I have had people yammer about how the roof top air conditioner can "Suck in" exhaust fumes... NO, won't happen, Roof air on an RV does not even have that as an option that I've ever seen.

Or open vents... Once again, no.

A Maxx air or Fantastic fan on INTAKE.. MIGHT, but frankly I doubt it. I seriously doubt it.

After all, the gas coming out the end of the pipe is hot, hotter than the air around, So it tends to rise, and keep on rising and rising, and rising.

Sometimes when you find one that is not black ask the owner if he will let you hold it (Removed from the RV) for just a few seconds.. note how heavy it is.

now do the same with a Genuine Gen-Turi.

THAT is why you might not want to home brew..

Generator companies advise aganinst their use because if the exhaust hanger bracket is broken (or if there is none as is often the case) the weight of the home made can damage the Generator.. The Genuine Article is ligher and less likely to do this. It also comes in a very nice storage bag and with all the adapters you need and so on.

however if someone wants to build one

Adapt yoru exhaust up 1 or 2 sizes, then go to a sweep elbow

now you need 3 or 4 metal "fins" welded to the non-generator end of the sweep. these are shaped to just fit inside the pipe.. Screw 'em in and that's about it folks.

But as I said. 3" or larger PVC is kind of heavy.. The stuff camco uses way lighter.

Do I need one to run generator at rally?
Far as I'm concerned you need one to run Generator for more than 2 hours anywhere... Likely more than one hour.

Will it attach to a class A? YES, no problem

Some folks have "home brewed" but I can tell you the Camco Unit is light weight, works well and the only time the black extenstion pipe got too hot for me to handle without gloves it was SUNLIGHT not the generator that did it Normally even after 24 hours I can handle the pipe bare handed (THE BLACK PIPE do not touch metal)

Gen Turi works well and packs easily in its own storage bag. I use suction cups from Harbor Freight for mounting.

The Gen-Turi does work very well, easy to setup and pack for storage. I was going to make my own until I seen it on Amazon for $109.00. They lowered the price after my original post. I use the suction cups from Camco because I didn't want to drill in the side of my MH.

I have friends who bought the Gen-turi but after reading others post I decided to make my own. A buddy and i built it in about an hour.Cost was about $25 with leftover material. I used the light drainage pvc and it was just as light as my friends Gen-turi. I used it while tailgating three nights and it worked well. The only adjustments I plan to make is a smaller bungie and paint it just to pretty it up a bit. Saved a few dollars and it was a fun project.

I made mine but I used 3 inch aluminum gutter downspout it is available in 3 or 4 inch 10 foot long.
Extremely lightweight, fittings same as what the others did 90 degree conduit from geni exhaust emt coupler I cut mine in two pieces seven and three so it would fit in the rear compartment. About 20 bucks total cost.

Shop Amerimax 120-in White Aluminum Downspout at Lowes.com
