Generator install question

We purchased a new FIFTH WHEEL. As part of the deal we purchased a generator and install.

We were told that the trailer was prewired and the dealer gave us the cost to install.

This morning I got a call saying it would be another $2700. After me telling them to forget it, they called me back saying they would eat it but the sales person indicated that it would cost him and the service guy...

My wife and I believe we are fair people. I have three questions:

1) is 2700 to do the wiring reasonable or not?

2) assuming the answer above is yes, would agreeing to kick something additional in reasonable (fair).

3) should I be concerned about a disgruntled employee installing something that can kill me if not done right?

Thanks,

Call the sales guy and ask him to find out the details.

And also request that the service manager show you everything done with the ssles guy there to make sure all is well.

Issue is between ssles and service and not your problem

Mention that you almost walked when they asked for more...

I concur, If you got it in writing for the complete install I would care less who was paying for it. Also 2700 seems high, before I traded to my Motor home my 5er was pre wired. It is just a matter of connecting the wiring to the generator, installing the generator, an exhaust pipe and possibly a small fuel tank (if not included on the generator) Sounds like they wanted you to pay for everything.
Stay tough.
