As a newbi I understand I should periodically run my on-board generator. I have heard that I should do so under load - during the warmer months I run the AC. What should I do now that it's cooler? Does the gen need a load for. 15 min run? I don't was to bake a cake in the microwave oven. What is the best practice?

My air conditioners have a heat pump for use in cooler weather. I just run them. I also can run the engine block heater, or a space heater, or the water heater on electric.

Plug in an electric heater and turn it on then turn on the ac unit as well. If you have two ac units put one on heat & one on cool. Supposedly you run them under load to dry the moisture out of the windings. I've seen many fail from never being used. I've not seen one worn out from too much use.

Thanks for the quick replies. I will try the heater load suggestion. I have one ac unit in my Lexor class B.

The reason to exercise with load is for the electric generating portion, not the engine. The idea is to get it hot and drive out any moisture.

a portable 1500-watt electric heater would be good or if you have an electric fireplace run that 4 to 6-degrees above ambient temp...high enough to keep it running for 15-min.
