Generators: Is a 10,000 KW enough?
Our long drawn out process of evaluating a new-to-us Class A DP (2004 to 2006) has one more delema:
1. Do we need a 12.5k or is a 10k sufficient
2. LP or diesel
Now the specific question: For those of you who have a Class A DP with a 10K generator, what can you NOT run at the same time specifically on/off your generator when boondocking - NO Shore Power:
1. Three roof 15,000 A/C units at the same time
2. Microwave
3. Two coffee makers
4. Hair dryer
5. Washer
6. Dryer
7. Electric hot water heater
8. etc.
9. What's your limit?????
In other words: What combination can you NOT run at the same time with a 10k generator?
I do understand that for an ALL ELECTRIC coach, 12.5k is a must!!!

JMHO: Do not get an LP, gen set , limited run time and re-fill accessibility.
If , I was in the market for another used coach , an LP gen set would be a deal breaker.

A 10,000 KW (= 10 Megawatts) generator could run a small city and would probably weigh more than your RV. You must mean 10 KW or 12.5 KW.

I have'nt found the limit yet, but cant say I've had the washer & dryer running, along with the 3 heat pumps, and all other things you list, while on generator. Also, ussually only make one pot of coffee at a time !

Generators: Is a 10,000 KW enough?
10KW is plenty! Diesel is best.
If you have a good power mgt system it will temporarily shed devices if you pull too much power. Happened twice in 2 years while running 3 heat pumps, convection oven, electric water heater, TV, and fridge, when DW ran the hair dryer.
Very rare, and I don't care!
Happy trails

my manual says if I run all three ACs and the clothes dryer then the EMS will shed the third AC. That is on shore power. The 10kw hasnt been the limiting factor for us. Be more concerned with poor shore (low volts). That can cost you big $$$ repairs.

Our last rig had a 8.0 KW diesel. It only had two 13.5 heat pumps, a small Dometic gas/elec refer, a gas/elec/motoraid water heater and washer/dryer combo. There was no way to overload the system with just the built in appliances.
The present rig has a 12.0Kw diesel gen and I can overload it.
AquaHot w/2-2,000 watt elements
Stacked washer/dryer with the dryer being a 240 volt unit (very rare)
Two zone electric heated floors.
Three 15.0 BTU heat pumps.
Jenn Air 22 cf refer
Gas stove top
Advantium micro/convection
Did have over 60 10W Halogen, now converted to LED's
However, we only have a 3,000 watt SW inverter so that's pretty limiting.
But I think for most "normal" rigs a 10 Kw unit is enough.

Your question really stymies me. Why would you even want to run everything on your list at one time?
You are in a camper. Doesn't matter what type. A little restraint would be all you need to get by with a 5500W Gen set.
Three AC units at once? Go outside and enjoy the day.

Thought about a CAT Diesel generator? Model #: 3013C
Anyone out there have one of these? Like, dislike, or...?
