Gray Tank Help Please

Hi!!
Wondering if someone might be able to advise......we have had our 2017 Gulf Stream travel trailer out now about 8 times....we usually use the bath house for showers just because it's easier..we've only done 3-4 day stretches so far.....our last trip into our 2nd day our gray tank control panel registered it at 1/3rd full but the sink and bathtub were filled to the brim with water.

So today we filled the gray tank until it breached the tub and sink drain....again it only registered on the monitor at 1/3 full.....

We measured the amount of water as we emptied it and we got about 20 gallons out. Our tank is 36 gallons.

We did this twice, same results both times.

Neither of us are particularly educated in this type of mechanics...but I did view a Youtube video that talked about the check valves on the sinks.....we check both of those, kitchen and bathroom sink.....both were slightly loose...we tightened them, repeated the process with same results...

Anyone have any advise?

Thank you!

Your gray tank should have a vent on the roof. If something has built a nest in it you would not be able to vent the tank and 20 gal. is all that will go in. Check this first.

I agree with ToniDi.

It is also possible that your vent pipe is too long, and that the grey water itself creates the air blockage. If you know the tank height, you could fill the tank as full as you can get it then check the depth of the water with pole (dip stick), from the roof similar to the way you check your oil level in an engine.
