Great Advice From Splendide on WD2100XC Maintenance

I posted in another thread HERE about an issue I was having with my WD combo not blowing any air from the vent.

I received some thoughtful answers, at least one of them (JXFG) was spot on with what eventually turned out to be my solution.

I am happy to report that after following the procedure that Darrell K. at Splendide outlined, the machine now functions as I would expect it to. It went from 0 air flow to about that of a hair dryer just as Darrell told me it should! I was really pleased when I tested it after following his instructions.

I decided I would post his instructions here so that others may benefit, and as JXFG (John and Diane) shared should run through this procedure as part of regular maintenance every few months, depending on how much the unit is used. It can only help efficiency, if nothing else! I followed his instructions to the letter.

F-13 XC POSSIBLE SOLUTION

1. Open soap dispenser drawer a few inches and add 1 pint of white vinegar to the detergent compartment. Close the drawer then start the unit without clothes and with the dry time off on cycle # 11. When the water stops entering the unit push and hold the start button until all the lights come on then release the button. *NOTE: If the water is not at least half way up the glass repeat this step.

2. Move the cycle knob to cycle # 2 push the extra rinse button then press the start button once (do not hold) then let it run through that complete cycle.

Do this 3 times then try the dryer.
Further, after I sent Darrell a thank you note he added...

Thank you to Darrell K. at Splendide for the great advice! I am impressed with company!

So are you telling us that the vinegar trick cleared out the blockage in the exhaust? I have some air coming out but not like a hair dryer at this point and now real good way to get a shop vac hose in there to suck it out.

If the blockage is in your vent pipe, this won't work. I knew my vent pipe was clear.. the blockage was in the machine. I followed the directions above to the letter and it worked for me. I went from zero air blowing out the vent to a good heathy flow.

I would bet your restriction is in the same space... between the inner (rotating) drum and the outer shell.

Please let us know how it works out for you!
