First off... I have a 39' 2008 Thor California "wide-body" TH that has recently become my home for the foreseeable future.

It has a Norcold N821F refrigerator that has been giving me fits at the time that I need it most

I started out on LP before and during the move and then hooked to a 50amp power supply (ONLY after being 100% assured with a digital multimeter that it is true and correct). Then, the issue started... I switched back to LP, to AC, then auto (still an issue), back to LP (later on), and currently AC mode and it STILL continues to shut off every few hours/days without any fault codes or warning at all!!

I have opened the freezer a few times (after getting "home" 12-15, 16ish hours later) and have found water in the ice trays!! It has proven to me that it is totally unreliable and I am now afraid to buy food!

Keep in mind that this issue has been a daily surprise for about SIX WEEKS now!!

I have searched Google and this forum multiple times for answers AND I have also downloaded EVERY owner's/service manual that I could find before I cluttered things up with a new thread...

I am at a loss for answers and I am several hours away from anyone (that I would trust enough to give a set of keys to) to push the ON button before my perishables spoil!!

I have been seriously considering jerking the POS out and replacing it with ANY electric fridge that will fit in the hole!!

Either patience, or frustration will ultimately determine the size of hole I make

The RV Systems and Appliances forum down toward the bottom of the main page deals with RV refrigerator issues. I'd pose your question there.

From reading this forum and others this seems to be the preferred fix for Norcold refrigerators.

Good Luck,
Jon

Guess I don't need to since the top of the sub-forum is filled with Stickys on the Norcold

I guess I jumped the gun a bit with opening a new thread, but I couldn't find anything real specific with the advanced search or Google. I was thinking that a Sticky would be among the first results, but I guess not.

Thanks again for the replies

Have you performed the diagnostic check listed on pdf page 63 of http://bryantrv.com/docs2/docs/ncoldnnewnseries.pdf when the fault has occured?

Test the cooling unit by wiring the electric heating element directly to a power test cord and run on shore power for 24 hrs. What did you find?

Thanks!! I checked out the link you posted above and it's far better than anything I've had time to look for so far. Every possible fault has been stored and I did the reset thing. I'll be able to narrow it down if it happens again.

I've been working nights and have had very little time off to do anything at all, but catch up on sleep.

I do have a reliable shore power source and I haven't needed to set the time on either my alarm clock, or the coffee pot since I plugged in over a month ago and my fridge works wonders in any mode... for a while . It just simply turns itself off without warning. I've been able to catch it most times, but am worried about it shutting down as I'm leaving for work.

Maybe one of the circuit boards has a bad solder joint that just needs some attention like my thermostat did

Thanks again everyone!! I'll post results if it happens again.

Stuff happens. IMHO, before pulling your hair out and/or complaining, did you take it to a qualified RV Tech?

Over time humidity and vibration result in loose or corroded contacts. Fix may be as simple as cleaning electrical connections. Just remember that 12VDC is used for all control and microprocessor power in the unit. 110VAC is only routed to the AC heating element (shown on wiring diagrams on pdf pages 51-53; correct drawing depends on S/N).
