Why is my generator overloading on 1500w elements (electric kettle, electric fireplace), WHEREFORE yesterday and the day before the Champion generator was handling all these items perfectly fine ?

Is the gas fresh ?

If not, suck it out, put it in your car and get fresh gas for it.

Don't cost much to try.

How low are the batteries ?

A 95 amp converter can draw 1000 watts. Add that to the 1500 watts and a few other things and your over the 2800 watt rating.

Did you turn on the water heater ?

A) thanks for replies

B) if low batteries would cause such, then that is a strong possibility (I'll try again in an hour or so after more generator usage to up the battery level)

C) for learning sake, what is the '95amp converter'... where does that number come from? (I get the draw 1000w, and the 2800w rating part)

I'm guessing on what you have. A charger/converter or inverter/charger.

What ever is charging your batteries, has a 12 volt, ?? amp output rating. Volts amps = watts.

Champion's web site has some tech. service pages to help troubleshoot the generator.

Gotcha.

I have 2, 6 volt batteries in series (I think), w/ a 1000w inverter for the Residential Fridge

Does your battery charger have a setting to limit the power it can draw? Mine does, and I set it to a low value when using my champion 3100 with high draw items to avoid pulling more overall current than can be supported. This would not be unique to the champion 3100 - any similar generator would be the same.

You will need to give some info on your equipment.

Brand and model of your inverter and if seperate, the same info on your charger/converter.

That would tell us if lt has a feture to adjust amp draw.

Did the overload issue clear up after charging for a while ?

Update: Problem solved

After running the generator for an hour or so, the fiver's batteries charged up more, and now I am able to use the generator for higher load items (electric kettle, electric fireplace, etc) while also powering the fiver simultaneously

Not trying to hijack but I guess I am.. Have been looking at Champion gens. How much have you used it and are you happy with it.

FYI
I am a newbie (to the RV world etc) so take such into consideration;

My rig:
2016 FR Sandpiper 371REBH
The CHAMP ; ) has powered up the Piper, handled a couple 1500w space heaters (at same time), powers up my electric kettle and wife's hair dryer : ) !

If I let my coach batteries get to low, then it doesn't run the 1500w elements which I presume would be the case for any generator?

My gen has the remote start which is pretty awesome

Would definitely buy again;

Ask me again in 6months YMMV
