I went out to test the systems last night, and the tongue jack went up about an inch, and quit. the batteries seemed low, so plugged into shore power, and still no luck

so I figure i should testthe genny too. it won't turn over. the primer works, but remotely, and directly controlled, no dice!

could this be one in the same problem like maybe the batteries are shot, and cannot hold a charge? I thought of that, and tested the lights with the batteries only, and they seemed to work

any input would be appreciated

Many jacks, slide out motors, etc., are powered directly from the battery and not through the converter. (They pull too much current)
Hence, if the battery is weak they won't work from the shore power until the converter has recharged the battery.

Check the cable and ground connections, recharge the battery, then give it another try.

no slides or any other power zapping things, except o2 sensors, but I have the batt disconnect on off.

yes the genny still fires when batt is discoed.

I charged it all last night, and tried both of them this morning, still no luck....could it be that the batteries are shot?

if you think they could be, i will test them when I get home.

They could be shot, it happens frequently. Make sure the terminals are clean and the connections are good. Check the grounding.

After charging them, test the specific gravity of each cell with a hydrometer. If you don't have one, Walmart carries a cheap one for a couple bucks that's not too accurate but it'll tell you if you have a weak or dead cell.

How to measure Specific Gravity

you know though...while plugged into shore, the water pump, inside lights, light on the tongue jack, as well as outside lights worked

could it still be the batteries???

Sure, it still could be the batteries. Keep in mind that the items you just listed will be powered by the 12 volt output of the converter when hooked to shore power. Most, if not all, converters have a relay that will switch the feed for the 12 volt DC circuits to the converters output when hooked to shore power. When it does this it also removes those items (electrically) from the battery.

As I posted earlier in the thread, some high current 12 volt devices are intentionally wired to run only from the battery irregardless of shore power or not.

If I were trouble shooting your problem I'd make certain the batteries were OK and properly connected and grounded before proceeding elsewhere.

Good luck.
