Hooked up to House Power...and DOH!
Hey guys...
I got a 15-30a plug and a bada$$ 10 gauge extension cord and managed to plug the camper into the house.
Lights came up...battery starts charging....fridge works. Even spins up one AC unit.
Left it for 20 min to let it cool down. Come back and suddenly not getting power.
Power is good all the way to the RV. No tripped breakers, no blown fuses on house or RV.
Can start the generator and run normally.
Just no power now getting through from the shore power connection.
There must be some fuse or something I am missing.
Any direction much appreciated...
Thanks!
Dave

dave, if you're plugged into an exterior outlet AND the circuit breaker in your home's min panel has not tripped i'll bet the outlet is a GFCI type. if so there should be a reset button on the outlet.

An AC, fridge on ac, and your battery charger, is way too much load for a 15A circuit.

Yes...yes it is...hehe.
Funny thing is I can't find a blown fuse or tripped breaker anywhere. I can plug in my saw and it still runs. Just doesn't seem to know the plug is in there now.

As rk911 mentioned, check the ground fault breaker in he bathroom or kitchen, should be a red button. Have you looked under the bed to make sure there is not a small breaker box ? Something is tripped somewhere, JMHO and good luck.

If the cord runs the power saw, the next thing is the adaptor. Was it a cheap one. You were kind of overloading it.
Beyond that the RV cord goes directly into the transfer switch. (At least mine is that way)
Sometimes the ends of the wires come lose in the terminal strips in the transfer switch.
You may need to open it up and check the connections.

Ahh...
Found it. My adapter for 15 to 50 amp is sketchy. Duct tape saves the day.
Glad it was that simple.
Thanks for all the great responses all!

Repairing a 15-50 adapter with duct tape?? You might want to check if it heats up while you over-load it. #firehazard

I wouldn't run anything but a few lights and maybe a fan under all those conditions. Turn off that ac and any other heavy users. Have a proper 30 or 50 amp receptacle installed to plug into, then you should be able to run the big stuff..

I run my fiver off of a 15 amp cord all the time at home. I even run the 13.5 AC when I need to with no problem. You just need a good connection. Also if you decide to get a 30 amp service installed, make SURE the electrician knows it is a 120 volt service for an rv or you will really have problems.
