Hot water heater

I have a 1997 aerolite 826RCB and cannot get water into the hot water heater. I have a 3 valve system 1 for hot (upper valve) 1 for cold (bottom valve) and 1 in between the two. When I hook up to the city water with the hose I can't get water to the tank to fill it. I'm thinking 1 of the 3 valves are not positioned correctly. Please help. As you might know this is my first camper.

While I have no first hand knowledge of your camper, there are on most motorhome's and 5th wheels a bypass for the hot water and one to change to fill the tank vs apply pressure to the system.

I really did not understand your description of the valves, in my mind I pictured a bypass. If that is a bypass, try closing the middle one and opening the other two. Cold in and hot out? Not sure of your system, I'm sure others will be along.

Oh, if those are the bypass for the hot water tank, there will be another valve somewhere for the fill vs pressure.

As Nomad Mike says, sound like a bypass. Not know how yours look, put the top and bottom valve in line with the pipe (open). Put the middle valve perpendicular to the pipe (closed). If you have a fresh water tank fill valve, make sure that is in the city water position. Make sure a faucet is open to let air escape after you turn the water on. Hope t his helps.

Welcome to iRV2

Here's a picture of the common system, to fill the hot water tank, the valves knobs , bottom and top in the picture , must align with the water lines, and the center , across the line, to block the by-pass.
In the picture the center valve is open and the tank would not fill.
