How to open outside frig access panel

I thought I had fixed clogged drain line on my Dometic frig, but the next day it is clogged again. If I run aquarium tubing thru the hole, water will leak out the black tube outside, but it soon stops up again.

I'd like to take off the outside access panel and have a look inside, but I don't understand how to open it. The panel is white plastic and there are black, rectangular plastic pieces near each lower corner.

Thanks!

There should be at least two of those "rectangular plastic" pieces that turn. Use a flat blade screwdriver to turn them 90 degrees.

Turn the black plastic keepers clockwise then swing the pannel up and lift out.

i suspect you have some algi growing in that drain i would recomend poring some concentrated lemon juice in the drain that will kill the algi and keep your drain running. if you can get your hands on a trombone cleaning brush that works realy well also lee

Mine has a black plastic cap with pin holes at the end of the drain tube. It has to be cleaned out occassionally. It pulls off and usually I can blow the clog out.

I just cut off that silly black plug with the pin hole in it. I think it's purpose is to keep bugs out, I can't think of any other reason it would be there. I cut it off 4 years ago and never had a problem with it plugging up.

Thanks again guys!!!! It was a simple fix. The drain tube was kinked by the access door. It is now sticking out 3.5" longer than it was yesterday.

In addition to GREAT advice, Y'all give me the courage to dig into something without fear of breaking it.

Luv each and everyone one of you!

Tincup, That black plug is on end of hose for a purpose its so your interior fridge box does not suck in warm air and cause added frost and drop the interior temps of your box.
Clean black plug holes and place it back on end and into the drain cup.

Should add the new info to the first post about your using tubing to clear the clog the first time, so they will know that it was more than just running something through to clear it.
May help someone next time to look at tube before assuming it is a clog, and not a kinked hose.

007,

Thanks for the info, I did not know that. I'm not that knowledgeable in reefers so bear with me.

1. If it sucks in hot air, how does that create more frost and will it be in the fridge or freezer?

2. The black plug is long gone but I could jury rig something to replace it like plug it and cut a tiny hole above the plug, would that work?

Thanks for enlightening me

Oh one other thing, the reason I cut it off was the water was almost overflowing the tray in the reefer and I discovered the plug was plugged.
So I cut it off.

Paul,as its sucking in the warm air the air will have possible humidity in air it will act as when you open the fridge doors to often on humid day it will build up more frost on your fins in the box portion of your fridge and raising the temp of your box area.
The hose is attached to the drip tray in box of fridge, the tray you said over flowed.
The freezer plates will build up more frost cause temps are lower has nothing to do with drain hose.
I'd try to find the proper plug to fix the hose end which when placed in small black bucket the water that drains in it is evaporated by heat in your vent area.
