HWH Jack motor stuck in a loop

1998 Overland Larado 42' DP

Went to re level the RV after doing some work on it. Turned the key on accessory, turned the jack controller on and hit the up button for the front jacks.

Pump motor hummed and all the lights in the RV went dim.
Click, motor stopped and lights back to normal.
Hum, lights dimmed.
Click, motor stopped, lights back.
Repeat over and over.
This continued until I climbed under and disconnected the positive wire (battery cable thick) to the pump motor.

Left it for a week (things to do) and tried again tonight.

Touched wire to motor, sparks, motor hums and lights dim.
Unhooked again.

Any thoughts?
Control panel?
Solenoid on motor?

Thanks,

Went to HWH site and downloaded the Service Manual.

Reading the troubleshooting section has me leaning towards control box or pump relay. Will have to test out tonight.

To finish this issue up, if anyone is interested......

Finally got out Sunday to check this out.
Slid under coach and touched wire to motor. - grrrrrr.
Took wire loose.
Had my son hold the parking brake button down (air brakes).
Touched the wire to the motor - grrrrr.
No change.
Disconnected control wires to relay.
Touched wire to motor - grrrrr.

Was scratching my head and my son (25) said,
"Have you smacked the relay (solenoid) with a hammer yet? Works on the cars."

Grabbed a hammer, slid under and wacked the solenoid a few times.
Touched wire to motor - no grrrr.
Reconnected control wires.
Touched wire to motor - no grrrr.
Bolted the power wire back onto the motor.
Sprayed the solenoin, wires and motor down with degreaser, rinsed and dried off.

In coach, key on accessory, jack control turned on.
Jacks up and down a bit to test.
Motor doing what is is supposed to do.
Jack control off and no motor whine.

Problem solved - low tech.

Glad you got things working.
JMHO: Pick up a new solenoid, you'll probably need it sooner than later.

Well, we hit the road.

Generator (diesel) wouldn't turn over. .Got to our first spot for a visit and had to replace the house batteries. (4 6-volt golf cart batteries)

Jacks work great and generator starts now. One common issue.
Power

cougar
keep an eye on that solenoid. once it sticks, its not uncommon to have it happen more often, with the end result being a stuck relay, which will burn the pump motor.
the part numbers are
master relay RAP7505
pump relay RAP0533
it wouldnt hurt to have at least the pump relay on hand.
they only fail when you need them the most.
if you need other help, my cell is 602-549-3638. i do work for hwh as a technical rep.
