HWH problems-no service
I was having a problem with my HWH leveling system over the wkend, so I anxiously waited till today at 0600 my time to call them and see what they had to say. A very nice lady answered and I said I needed technical assistance. She asked if I was an owner or dealer/repair place; I answered "owner". She found me in her system as I ordered some springs from them years ago for another coach. She took my info and said she would have my call returned but there is a 3-4 week backlog on returning calls. I repeated 3-4 WEEKS???? thinking I mistook her for DAYS. No, 3-4 weeks!!!!! So I left my name on the so called "call back list" but I think I will have the problem resolved by then. I did go on line and pose the question that way so who knows how long that will take, if they even answer.
I have NEVER been told it would take 3-4 weeks for someone to call me back; is this just ludicrous or what? Anyone experience this problem with HWH?

Good thing most of us are handy with tools and repair most of our problems, guess you can figure out why!

In January I emailed a question and the following morning at 8am an engineer called me with the answer. Just lucky I guess.

Have you down loaded the tech materials for your system from the HWH web site? Their trouble shooting guides are pretty thorough. HWH, like some others in the RV industry have been adversely affected by the market and the price of fuel as it pertains to RVing. Have you tried Stuarts in Elkhart. IN? They are a good source for HWH parts and I'm sure, information.

Same thing happened to me about a month ago. It did take them about 3 weeks to call me. It's aggravating, but you're asking for free advice, so can you really complain?
I finally was called by Frank who is a very professional tech and helped me get to the root of my problem.
Why don't you post your problems here and maybe someone who has had the same problem can help you.
What is happening on your unit?

Thanks for the quick responses. OK, here is what is happening. I am parked and ignition is turned to "Acc", i.e., "on", brake is set as indicated by red Brake Light on dash. On the HWH control pad, the Not in Park/Brake" red light is flashing, and no buttons will engage. I first dump the air but nothing happens and no other extend or retract buttons work.
A service tech told me to unscrew the control pad and disconnect the flat pin connector, wait about 5 min. then plug it back in and try it. I have done that twice and it works. Another tech told me to make sure all my jack shafts are clean and to spray them with WD-40 or if they have grease zerks, try shooting some grease in there(planning on that today). He said that if you have a slow retracting jack(which I do) that if it doesn't go up and lock(red light out) in a certain amount of time, the unit will time itself out and go to the default mode. Apparently, disconnecting the flat pin connector and waiting will allow the control panel to reset itself.
I have downloaded the service manual with the trouble shooting steps and this situation is addressed in one section, but it says THE IGNITIION AND TOUCH PANEL POWER ON LIGHT ARE ON. It doesn't address the fact that my NOT IN PARK/BRAKE LIGHT is flashing.
So for now, I am stumped, anyone had this particular problem?

Why do you have your ignition switch turned to "acc" instead of "Off" ? Maybe that's got something to do with it???

There is no power to the control panel if you have the switch off.

I have experienced it always being hit or miss with them. I have been in a dealer trouble shooting a bad shuttle valve for me and watch him call back and forth three or four time. I have gotten through immediately (once) and lost track of how long it was another time. I was passing by on I-80 and decided to stop by. They have a half a dozen 50 amp sites available. It was interesting watching the relaxed attitude they had returning calls.

Guess yours is different from mine. When I pull into a campsite, I extend the slides, turn off the ignition, dump all the air, then level the coach. Works for me!

Wow, you extend the slides before leveling? I've always read and been told to NOT extend the sides without the jacks down.

Different Mfg. have different procedures.

Tech support at Monaco told me to extend the slides while the coach air bags are in the "Travel" mode (on the HWH panel).

Just because they are called "tech. support" doesn't mean they are not idiots. Just think of the physics of sliding a large object across a floor that is either level or at an angle. As a physicist I am going with the "get it level first" crowd.
