Yes, I broke it, its the little magnet on the screen door that allows the steps to retract. Does anyone know what this is called? I can't seem to find it in any parts catalog.
Thanks, Lloyd.

If you only need the part that is on the screen door then that is just a magnet... go to your local hardware store or Home Depot/Lowes and find one that is close to the size you need and superglue it to the door.

You can buy it from CW for almost $32 or get it from AMAZON for a little less than $3. Kinda gives one pause about buying anything from CW.

Amazon.com: Miniature Magnetic Contact Switch: Electronics

This one is probably closer to what is in there now.
http://www.amazon.com/Alarm-Center-S..._bxgy_e_text_b

It also comes in a long version for about $2

For Kwikee steps, they only sell complete magnetic switch kits. Pictures of their magnetic switches are on pdf page 30 of this document: http://www.kwikee.com/PDFDocuments/S...TrainPART2.pdf

Here is the switch parts listing for their steps.
Parts: Steps and Step Parts
You just have to determine which one you need for your rig.

Like Texnet said you could also just by a magnet.

There's a magnetically sensitive reed switch on the door frame. The magnet causes the switch to close when the screen door closes. Almost any cheap magnet will work as a replacement.
