I need an air filter

Greetings:
Our 2000 Trek has an Onan Microlite 4000 series RV GenSet. It requires an Onan Air Filter part number 140-3280. Do you have a part number for air filters for our GenSet by microguard, wix, fram or knn from Napa or O'Reilly? Napa is close by as is O'Reilly. The closest Onan dealer is 100+ miles South of here. Thanks a bunch!

Hi Milt,
If you GOOGLE 140-3280 you have a bunch of choices in vendors and brands of air filter. One can purchase via the Internet and have it delivered to your house.

Either do it online or take that Onan number to NAPA and they'll set you right up. Yep, it's that easy.

I need an air filter

To RVDude: Thanks for your suggestion. I tried O'Rielly/Schuck's. They special ordered four filters. Three were way off. One was close but no cigar. Napa had nothing to offer. Carquest usually locates tough to find stuff but they had nothing. So it's off to Spokane and Cummins Northwest.

To GaryKD: Your suggestion was a really great idea. I would use that source but I'm in a hurry so I'll use it next time.

Thanks again,
Milt

Why not use an Onan filter?

Air filter

Greetings to GaryKD, RVDude, and JoeT: As you know I was trying to purchase an air filter near our home. I had other reasons to drive to Spokane. On 4/28/10 I visited Cummins Northwest in Spokane to purchase a 140-3280 air filter for our 4000 series microlite ONAN generator. I was given an ONAN Filter-Kit part # 140-3295 in place of the #140-3280. This one time kit modifies the air filtering on this particular ONAN generator. The air filter is a little different from the original. The next time I need an air filter for the generator I won't need the kit but I can buy the ONAN part number 140-3280. The cost for the kit was $21.91. The costs for the 140-3280 was 12.48 plus tax. My guess is that the filter and kit are only available from an ONAN dealer.
Have fun.

Air filter

Greetings to all:
This morning I installed the 140-3295 air filter-kit on our 4000 series ONAN Generator. It appears that incoming air will have better access to the filter. My guess. Included was a label to be affixed to the generator suggesting use of ONAN number 140-3280 from now on. Maybe the engine will start more easily and last forever and ever and ever.

Have Fun.
Milt
