I just got a travel supreme 34 RL TSO. I got an adaptor to plug into 30 amp and have no problems, but as soon as I plug into 50 amp service it blows the converter/charger fuse. Any ideas would greatly be appreciated.

First step, Did you check the output of the pedestal 30A voltage and polarity?

No, I am plugged into a 110 volt outlet from a house using a 30 amp adaptor to my 50 amp plug. I installed a 50 amp plug in for the trailer and when I plug into the 50 amp it blows the breaker

Hi Eugene69,
To determine the problem, follow the power. If you are comfortable using a meter, check the 50 VAC AMP female supply outlet for proper wiring. There should be 120 VAC on each hot leg. There should be no VAC on ground and neutral. There should be no VAC between ground and neutral.

And there should be 240 VAC between the two hot legs.

Since the 50amp was just installed it would logically indicate the wiring to it is incorrect. Especially given the RV seems to be fine since it operates on the 50->30 setup.

I will take a guess that it was wired in some manner using 2 lines from the SAME side of the main bus such that when the RV is plugged in a short is created in the outlet itself.

You are plugging into a 4 wire 50 amp outlet .....aren't you? And you made certain that it is wired correctly?

Using a multi meter set to AC VOLTS at least 300 volt range.

Open the main breaker box in the RV, turn off all breakers.

From the two main breakers measure the voltage between the screw terminal and the bus bar with the WHITE wires..while plugged in. CAUTION THE BREAKER SCREWS I AM POINTING YOU TO WILL BE HOT!!!!

Now turn on the mains, and a branch that feeds an outlet.... Plug an electric space heater into THIS outlet set on low heat and again measure the voltage on the two main breaker screws.

Post result.
