Ice under residential freezer drawer

anyone have ice buildup under the lower freezer drawer? We shut the water off to the icemaker/water in the door dispenser and there is no ice. Do we have a leak?

You could have a frozen Defrost Drain Line which is not allowing the water that occurs from defrosting the coils to drain down into the collection pan at the bottom of the fridge.

The only way to find out is to remove the panel and take a look at the drain hole.

OR you could have a leak.

What Richard said...either frozen and plugged or just plugged with some debris.

Remve the back cover and use a hair dryer to GENTLY melt the ice on the coils and around the drain tube. Have lots of towels on hand to mop up the water.

Once you have everything melted, if the water is still not draining down the tube you need to try pushing a wire of the appropriate gauge down the drain tube to push out any crap/ice stuck in the tube itself.

It might happen again...it might not...but I am 100% sure that is your problem.

It's underneath the fridge but may not be removable. Most newer fridges have the water drain into a pan connected to the compressor which helps to evaporate the water.

You need to take off the back panel inside the freezer compartment after you remove all of the drawers. The ice dam will be behind that panel.
