There is no power to solenoid unless it calls for water.

Is the icemaker making any clicking noise3s? Ours quit working but would make some clicking noises. I just defrosted it and turned it back on. Has worked fine.

The circuit board for the fridge does not control the icemaker at all. When the temperature sensor in the icemaker senses a sufficiently low temperature (usually 17-20ºF), the harvest cycle begins. The cycle runs off a motor in the icemaker. The motor trips cams and micro switches to turn on a heater in the mold to allow the rake to sweep the ice out and then to open the solenoid to let water in. Tha_Rooster is right. The solenoid itself will only have power for a few seconds when it is actually letting water through.

I'm sure you already made sure the bail on the icemaker is down.

Next, I would check the electrical receptacle behind the outside access panel for power. The fridge itself will be plugged into one receptacle and the icemaker will be plugged into the other. We had a bad plug one time that kept our icemaker from working.

Good luck. Let us know what you find.

This is the troubleshooting chart for my Ice maker

Problem: Refrigerator Cooling: No ice in bin

1. A/C power disconnected. Connect A/C power
2. Broken wire or loose connection. Locate and repair
3. Shut off arm in storage position. Place in normal operation position
4. Water supply shut off. Restore water supply.
5. Inoperative water valve. Check valve and inlet filter for restrictions
or solenoid coil failure.
6. Excessive frost build-up causing Defrost unit - inspect for door gasket leak.
Shut-off arm to hang up.

I hope it helps

Cheers

My 1200 ice maker works occationally. I have replaced the thermister and have moved it into almost every position on the fins. The freezer never gets below 0.
