I would like to remove the Norcold Icemaker in my 03 Suncruiser. I have a Norcold N8421M. The icemaker takes up too much room in the freezer. I would rather have the space. Can anyone give me some guidelines for the removal? I have looked and it looks like the actual icemaker removal is the easy part. The disconnection of the water feed and the electrical seems to be a bit more challenging. Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks
pete

We too felt that the Ice Maker took up to much room therefore removed it. What I did was just remove the Ice maker from the freezer which was just a couple of screws and the electrical plug. I then disconnected the water line on the Ice Maker side of the water supply solenoid, screwed a hose cap onto the tubing. I then installed a cork plug in the water line inside the freezer so air could not enter the freezer box through the water line. I then disconnected the power to the water solenoid valve, used shrink tubing to cover the wire connector, also used shrink tubing to cover the ice maker connector in the freeze box to prevent moisture from entering. Tie wrap everything out of the way and left it be. Everything worked fine.

I chose not to completely remove all the the ice maker support wiring and tubing for a couple of reasons; 1) So it could be easily reinstalled in case I decided I needed it in the future or wanted to sell the motorhome. 2) To prevent having to pull the refer in order to remove the stuff that enters the freezer box and deal with re-sealing the freezer box. Refer and Freezer operation was not affected by this removal.
