Icing freezer

Had to scrape ice from the freezer on two occasions this summer trip so far. How can I prevent this?

Try installing a portable fan inside your freezer/fridge and see if that helps.....Dometic Evaporator Fan Greater inside Cooling Deluxe Model - RV Cooling Unit Warehouse

Assuming you have a Norcold or Dometic refrigerator in your ACE, this is normal. The fridge section is self defrosting but the freezer requires manual defrosting. We do ours every couple of months or so. Some people use a hair dryer but I have read that this is not a good idea. A plastic scraper gets most of the ice off.

Plastic scraper is what we have been using as well! Twice in 2 month trip. Thanks for all replies!

Manual defrosting is normal, but twice in 2 months sounds too frequent.

Check to make sure your door seals are OK. Close the door on a dollar bill and try to pull the bill out. There should be resistance. Repeat in various locations around the perimeter of the door. If the bill comes out freely, your seals aren't making contact.

Defrosting a RV type fridge is a normal task. If you are in those parts of the country that are very humid you will have to do it more often.

Installing a Frost-Free unit is the only way to eliminate the chore.
