In A Bind—Heater ticking, A/C issue

Hoping I can find some wisdom here. New to RV ownership, thought I had fixed my RV’s issues. I have it rented 2 hours from my home, and renter calls and says A/C isn’t working.

When we first used heater in my ‘06 Keystone Laredo the heat would not come on. Took it to a local dealer repair shop, and they said they fixed it. Took it out for a try and heater does come on, but there is constant ticking (it’s loud), that persists consistently. There’s no sleeping through that sound. There was plentiful propane. It sounded like it was trying to light, even though it was already blowing hot air.

Then guess what? The dealership went out of business! Closest branch is now 4 hours away.

1 day later....I had agreed to rent out my camper for the first time. Heater isn’t needed currently so no big deal. But now renter called and says A/C unit won’t turn on! It worked before I had taken it in.

Any suggestions? They are renting for 9 days. I can do basic repairs, but am new to RVs. And there’s that 2 hour drive...

Do you think this is just a thermostat issue or something more?

One would have to ask if the renters know what they are doing. Did they check the breaker switch? Beyond that I don't know what advice could be given without looking at it.

Could be thermostat
Could be 'operator'...thermostat not in COOL mode, fan AUTO
Could be loss of 12V DC voltage

Could be bad start capacitor(s)
Could be tripped 120VAC circuit breaker

Not a lot of info provided so not much troubleshooting

AC doesn't work is too none specific to pin point any reason

As for furnace....
Constant ticking is spark electrode firing continuously which usually means bad circuit board

Are the renters plugged into “shore power” or boondocking?

Update

Update: turns out the renter knows quite a bit about RVs. They are boondocking. Pulled off the thermostat and connected wires—A/C works. Just not working with thermostat connected. So having to connect manually for A/C Could the thermostat be connected to both A/C and heater issues?

These are great ideas.
The RV repair place who had worked on the heater previously said someone had wired things in a crazy manner. Said they fixed it.
Looks like I’m calling someone tomorrow, regardless.
