Install 12 volt plug in 5th basement

I'm thinking about installing a 12 volt plug in my storage for a 12 volt cooler.

My panel is right there in the basement, and I'm gathering information about how to tap 12 volt from it for a 12 volt receptcle.

Starting thoughts?

Do you happen to have a 120 volt outlet there in the basement?
If so, you could just take the easy way.

I wish, there's no power outlets there at all.

I'd prefer that the cigarette style plug be hot all the time, for operation while driving when desired.

Looks like I have plenty of open fuse locations.

It seems to me I would put the hot wire at one of the fuse locations, a 5 amp fuse, and the white to the neutral bar and that's done yes?

And I'll use an RV charging station style outlet with the USB plugs in it too.

Gotcha.
Looking at a couple of manuals on it
http://wfcoelectronics.com/wp-conten...ion-Manual.pdf

http://wfcoelectronics.com/wp-conten...ENTER_18-1.pdf

I see that it has 18 DC circuits, can you find an unused one and tap in there?
Looks like they are on the right in all of the pictures I've seen so far in the manuals.
Maybe put a tester on them to see if they are really 'hot' as expected.

Edit: I was typing and looking at manuals as you were typing, but it seems we're thinking the same thing.

Another edit: I THINK the white neutral bar you mentioned is on the 120 volt side, not sure you want to tap into that. *I* might grab the ground from a wire to the frame instead.

If you would like to charge more than 1 or 2 devices it is better to install cigarette (15amp fuse) lighter plug with 14ga or 12ga wire and then plugging a USB adapter into it. This way you can use any number of rapid charge/multi port charging adapters.

What I'd really like is the same style plug that's installed inaode my orv. I'm having a hard time finding the part number. I'm sure it's standard affair.

More than anything I want to operate the 12volt cooler. USB charging ports are a nice want-to-have.

It looks just like, or very similar to, the outlet in this video

https://youtu.be/4m7LDWZAJ4s

I guess what I'm Really wondering is where to place the not hot wire. Would it go to the ground bar then? Duh obviously not the neutral bar.

For the not hot wire (for argument's sake, let's call it the ground wire) I would take a wire from your new outlet to screw or bolt on the frame of the RV. I would expect that to be a short trip starting from a basement storage area. You could check for a good ground by using the voltage tester that I'm sure you have. Put the red test lead on whichever circuit you're going to use in the converter, and then touch the black lead to various likely spots in the basement. If you find a screw or bold that will work for gound, and if that is a handy spot, then now you have the placement for your new 12 volt outlet. Put very near that screw so you have a nice short wire run (I'm thinking for looks, not because a foot or so of extra wire is going to make a difference one way or the other).

I just installed that outlet in the base of our bed. I will use the cigarette lighter outlet to run my CPAP. I ran the wires (+ & -) to the batteries which are right below the bed. I bought the outlet from Amazon.
