Insulating Norcold fridges

For those of you that have either replaced the cooling unit with an Amish CU or, anyone that has removed the fridge for any other reason. Did you give any consideration to insulating the fridge with 1/2" or 3/4" rigid foam insulation? I'm just wondering if it would keep the fridge colder due to the added insulation.

In my Bounder they just stuffed fiberglass insulation around the fridge. I will be replacing my CU with an Amish unit in the near future and thought adding this rigid foam is one of those "you might as well" jobs and the expense is near nothing compared to the new CU.

Any thoughts?

Just for clarification I'm talking about insulating the sides and top.

You cannot add insulation to the refrigerator before installing it back into the cabinet as it would not fit through the opening of the cabinet. Insulation in the form of a woven batt type could be put inside the cabinet and make certain the the refrigerator is resealed from outside air into the living space.
