The parking brake should be set for sure. Some slide out systems are wired for the key to be in the off, some in the on (motor off) and some want the engine running to produce the most voltage to the slideout motors. You could have an issue with a bad parking brake contacts in the switch. This should produce a path to chassis ground. By-passing the circuit to chassis frame can be done for testing. Make sure all connections are clean and tight. Good luck and let us know what you find.
