Inverter Choice

Been researching a new inverter to go into our new fifth wheel, we had a 200W Xantrex in our old rig and it met our needs. I am thinking of the Magnum MS2012 which has the 100amp charger incorporated into the unit. I had a bank of 6 T105 Trojans that gave us all the power we ever needed when boondocking for a week or longer with a boot legged charger incorporated into the system. Are there any other sine wave inverters with chargers I should be considering???? Thanks!

What do you all use it for? For 1700 bucks I think I would rather get a cheapo. The 100 amp charger is pretty sweet though.

It really depends on your needs. Check out Progressive Dynamics as well as Xantrex.

I would recommend a pure sine wave inverter (vs modified sine wave).
The converter charge portion should be sized to the battery bank and include a multi stage charge routine to keep from boiling the battery once charged.
100 amps max should be ok for a 6- 6v bank system.

Combining the inverter and converter processes into 1 unit is not as modular as separate units when it comes to repairs flexibility but may save you a few bucks investment.

Our coach has a Progressive Dynamics pd9180 80 amp converter with charge wizard ($220) and a Xantrex ProWatt PSW 2k inverter ($320) tied to 4 6v batts, for reference.

80 Amps Inteli-Power PD9180 Power Converter - $197.90

You said "200 watt" Did you mean "2000 watt?" (With a 100 amp charger Xantrex makes a very nice 2KW unit, or rather made one).

There are many brands, In the 2KW range most of them are .. Well, Highly competitive, I would recommend only that you look for a "MADE IN CHINA' sticker and if you find it.. Shop elsewhere.
