Inverter/Converter not working?
In order to save my week end, can I hook a 12 volt battery directly to the back of the fridge to keep it working?

More info would be helpful. What RV? What kind of refrigerator? What is the problem with the converter - have you troubleshot it down and are sure it's bad?
If you are missing 12vdc due to the house batteries being low, easiest is to just connect an external battery charger directly to the house battery bank.

Thanks for your offer Mr. Vsheetz. I have answered my own question though. What ever is causing the rigs electoral system to operate on shore power but no power when on 12 volt. I can tap a jumper from the battery to the 12 volt imput on the back of the fridge. And run the fridge on gas, and save my weekend!

FWIW it sounds like you really do not understand the problem. If the converter is not working you should still have 12 VDC from the house batteries as long as the disconnect relay is closed. That would let you just add the external charger assuming you have AC at the site or run it off a generator.

Mr Northermark you are right. We don't know the problem. We don't have shore power and no generator. And without the two there is no 12 volt power to any system other than the slide! And yes the slide works fine and the battery is up!

Yes, you could probably connect 12v directly to the frig.
However, before you do that, from the symptoms you describe, it sounds like you have a Use/Storage solenoid that is not activated in the Use mode.
Verify you are in Use mode.
Check both sides of the solenoid to see if you have power on both sides (solenoid in Use mode)
They sometimes have a fuse on them that pops (very common) that prevents them from shifting mode.

This selenoid is near the battery in a trailer?

Nope! It was on a trailer in my campground. I suggested the battery jump to his fridge so he could stay the weekend. He is gone now, and I have no issues now. Thanks for your interest.
