Question Inverter Generator Break-In Proceedure

So I'm picking up a Predator 3500 today and was doing some research on the best methods of breaking in an inverter generator. Here's what I've come up with... was hoping for y'alls experienced feedback/suggestions.

Quote:
1) Put a middle-grade NON-synthetic oil in the engine. Generally this will be a 10w30 dino oil like Pennzoil, etc.

2) Start the engine, put in "eco-mode" and let it warm-up without a load for 10 minutes.

3) Put a 15%-20% load on the genny and let it run for 15 minutes (in my case 500-700 watts).

4) Put a 30%-35% load on the genny and let it run for 15 minutes (in my case 1000-1200 watts).

5) Put a 50% load on the genny and let it run for 15 minutes (in my case 1750 watts).

6) Put a 75% load on the genny and let it run for an hour (in my case 2625 watts).

7) Change the oil. Replace with dino-based 10W30 again. Repeat the above steps one more time.

8) Change the oil again, this time with a high quality full synthetic.

9) Run the engine under various loads for 8 hours.

10) Change the oil again.

11) Run the engine under various loads for 25 hours.

12) Change the oil again.

13) Use genny as desired and follow oil change interval as prescribed in user manual.
What do y'all think?

Ran mine with a light load for about 30 minutes. Kicked on a heater on high for about 45 minutes and changed the oil. Change it every 25 hours or so now.

I bought mine right at a year ago now. Ran idle for an hou or so, then med load for about an hour then loaded he uo for anothe hour or so then changed oil. Now change as per recommended intervals. I have a large solar bank so I don't use the gen much. That said, it has run for approx 5 hours so far today to keep the ac going as it's hot even up here on the Idaho/Montana border in the mountains

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

I would think the genny comes with break-in instructions!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!
