In two and a half years, my inverter has never been turned off. But I'm always connected to shore power.

I finally turned mine off after 7 years since we are not living in it anymore.

The only time we turn it off is during service so that the batteries don't get run down and the genny doesn't start by itself while the techs are working on it. Other than that in over 3 1/2 years it is never turned off.

YES, however.... Inverter is a Xantrex Prosine 2.0.. It is a delux model and like a computer UPS it will switch to "Battery Charger" mode if shore power is A: Present and B: Proper (must be both) passing shore power on to the loads.
If shore power goes away, or if it gets "out of range" (Voltage or frequency too high or low) or if it gets "nasty" (Bad waveform) the inverter cuts in and like a UPS. powers loads from the battery.
I could wish one improvement.. That is if it's getting "Out of range shore power" I"d love to see it convert to 12vdc and then invert back to clean 120vac power. But it is not quite that good.
(I do have a way to do that.. Just a few switches I need to switch)

I leave mine on all of the time. I got tired of setting the clocks.
