Jensen AWM968 Stereo

KInd of curious if others may have 'suffered' through problems with one of these Jensen AWM968 stereos. Besides the fact that the remote is non intuitive and way too small for my kinda big hands and the sound reproduction is mediocre (yeah, could also be the low end speakers), lately ours now decides to turn itself on whenever it feels like it often at O Dark thirty --huh!! My fix later today will be a separate power toggle switch and turn the dang thing completely off.

Mostly just wondering if others have had problems with this seemingly 'standard' RV appliance. Also, though not yet very high on my list of project, what replacement options are there that work well in an RV?

Dave, I have been in electronics all my life, and Jensen is generally considered to be very poor quality in sound components! I don't know what is out there to replace it, but if I were you I would be searching for something better!

Maybe you could see what they are using on the top-of-the-line 5ers such as Tetons, etc!

Joe - I suspect Teton stopped building 5ers (2008) before Jensen started making their junk

Even our now gone and top of the line Titanium had a better original sound system but I replaced it with a mid price and as always, mediocre, SONY when it finally went to electronics heaven. The full Montana line along with a bunch more way higher priced 5ers we looked at a couple years ago - virtually all had that Jensen AWM968.

I'm thinking that a good double DIN system from Crutchfield along with maybe a selector switch for the 3 sets of speakers plus a good Blu-Ray/DVD player is in our future.

That toggle switch I mentioned above will be doing the job of 'killing' the O Dark Thirty wake up call. It was a 15 minute fix.
