Just Scored a 6.5 KW Onan Emerald III for cheap !

Ok so I scored this unit for $300 off of CL.

The guy had all the shrouds off, because he was trying to "popcorn" weld some exhaust leaks....I looked passed that mess, and saw it was a nice looking unit.

He successfully managed to get it to fire up with his mess of wires and cables.

I got it to my shop, and reinstalled the shrouds, and let it run for about 30 minutes. Test my grinder on it, and it is supplying power.

I feel like I did good.

It might have a sticking relay, as it did the "backfire" thing when it first started.

OK ... so now I need to find a "GOOD" site with some info on this unit ...

My searches have lead me to bits and pieces only ...

Ideas ?

So how about some pics? I am kind of a Diesel engine/generator collector and love a good find. Last summer I found a china diesel and 10kw gen head bought it for $300 but had to drive 3 1/2 hrs one way to pick it up but, I have found them on Craigslist for $2200 so I was happy to make the drive.

Great info on both those pdf's !! Definitely will be used ...

However, I need the schematic and lead placement or location of the control panel plug.

This generator was removed very rudely to say the least.

All the wires were clipped, and they are all white in color.

I have not been able to find a web copy of the parts book (940-228B) for a Spec A-C.
Control Schematic is on pdf page 56 (5-34) of 940-502. Dotted line area is the circuit board.

Control board location is shown on pdf page 55 (backside of front panel.). Backside of front panel is shown on pdf page 57. You can see the P2 connector wiring (remote switch connector) coming of the local start/stop switch.

Hmm, the pdf page indicator at top for the file is screwy. Didn't notice that.

Control Schematic is on 7-2.
Control board location is shown on page 7-1 (backside of front panel).
Backside of front panel is shown on page 7-3. You can see the P2 connector wiring (remote switch connector) coming of the local start/stop switch.

AC Section on 8-4 and 8-5.
