Last week the family and I went on one of our road trips. We just pick a direction and go. What we find who knows. This time it was Indiana.
Anyway, after a couple of days I noticed a wet spot on the carpet. It did not have a waste smell. I could not find anything leaking from the vac breaker or the water valve. I figured there may be a seal leaking.
So what we did is after a flush we would crack valve a little to let any remaining water from a flush to drain. This fixed the leaking issue.
I have a Thetford Galaxy/Starlite permanent toilet. Do I need to replace the whole flush valve, or is there a seal kit that my cover this area. I haven't pulled things apart yet.
Thanks for any help.
Jeff

Remove snap around cover under the bowl (2 screws) and remove. You will then be able to see if the valve is leaking (valve assy is replaceable with screws). If leak is not found in this area then possibly a leaking toilet to tank seal (rubber). Suggest the installation of a shut off valve ($5-6 from Lowes/HD) in the water supply line while toilet is disassembled. Makes life a whole lot better when toilet leak needs to be shut off.

Thanks thats a good idea. Georgie Boy thought so too. They put one where the water comes into the toilet.
I have the feeling its the tank to toilet seal. The carpet around the outside of the toilet by the valve is dry. I think the water may be migrating from the tank seal. If the tank seal isn't leaking are there any seals replaceable on the flush valving or mechanism?

Found the problem. Seems that the water valve was leaking a very small amount. But it looks to be leaking for a while. There was a bit of rust on the flush mechanism. So parts have been ordered. Thanks guys.
