LED light fixtures

Always read about LED bulb replacements, but how about new fixtures?
Who has experience with them? Which, where and what to buy?

Van.

From what I have seen at CW, they are way over priced. You would be better off trying some bulbs to see if you like the light output first. Try Ebay for some from China. It may take a month to get them, but you can't beat the price.

Hello Van -

I replaced all of the 1141 incandescent light bulbs in my Roadtrek with LED's and I am quite pleased with the color, as well as the dramatic drop in amp usage.

They simply went into the same socket so there is no need to change the fixtures.

The original 1141's used 1.5 amps/hr each, and the new LED's use .2 amps each.

I ordered mine here. LEDTrailerLights.com - RV LED interior ceiling light 1141 1156 1003 warm white

On another topic, on your post above it says you are converting a Dodge B-250 van, but on your website there is a picture of a Chevy van in the upper right corner. Are you going to convert two vans?

Anyway, your carpentry skills are obviously well honed and keep us posted on your progress!

LED fixtures and one attentive reader

I already did some checking on the bulbs, but cannot really test them, because I don't have the fixtures. And the size and direction of the LEDs allow small and built-in fixtures, instead of the older oversized ones.

With regard to MAU MAU, you are correct about the Dodge/Chevy issue. As you can read at my introduction page, I would have bought a Chevy van as my current best alternative for a new cargo van. Ford is discontinuing its Econoline and the Sprinter is too big for me. So because of the uncertainties of the car market at the time of the decision and a leaner new Ford Transit in the pipeline, I decided to convert my current Dodge B-250 and use it as a 'test' platform for all my ideas.
If or when there is a version 2.0 I can easily transfer all appliances, which make up most of the financial investment and then I'll change the picture on the website too.

Van.
