flints, if you click the "Find" button above and type in "LED," you will get a whole bunch of posts on the subject. Don't forget to uncheck the box to allow searching in all forums. Many of the discussions will contain sources for LEDs. Good luck.

With LED lights, you get what you pay for so to speak.. You can buy them cheap but they die quickly, are not bright, can't handle vibration and more. I've installed aftermarket LED boards in Harley Davidson brake light fixtures and have found this vendor sells LED's that last, are very bright and have an exceptional warranty. These LED boards can be adapted easily to most applications, not just motorcycles. They hold up to lots of vibration, are bright and I have never had them fail. Yes, they are expensive. Some of these would be great for a toad, added bulb application. In my installs, I use "GOOP" brand flexible epoxy which is flexible and will not break loose with vibration.

You mentioned replacing "outdoor lights" and I think you may be disappointed in LEDs. They are a beam (point) light source and don't make good floodlights. You have to mount 5-15 of them in an array that is angled to spread the light of each LED to cover much area. And it takes a lot of LEDs to produce as much area lighting as a plain old incandescent bulb such as is typically found in an RV porch light. But if you can get the light where you want it, you can definitely cut the battery amp drain considerably.
