to WFCO..has anyone installed the ultra III 3 stage charger "KIT"? Certainly appears to be big charging improvement over what I have.

Choice..45 or 55 amp. Mine 45, but what advantage would 55 amp. give me? TIA

A 55 amp charger will recharge a low battery bank quicker. You will need the proper gage wire for 55 amp, usually a 6 to 4 gage depending on type of insulation on the wire.

I installed the newer '55' amp version. I still have the old one, and it still works. It was just not suitable for the RV. The older units on 10 yr old (maybe older) units was because it was 'cheaper' and was 'standard' for the time, but unfortunately a lot of 'batteries' were toasted using them. My new one has been in for about a year and I have not had to add water to the batteries yet.

cheers
