My Inverter is making a noise that, almost , sounds like a leaf stuck in a cooling fan. It is 4 years old and have been running most of that time. I am planning on trying to remove the cover tomorrow to see if it is a bearing or just dome debris. Has anyone had their cover off? What can I expect? Do you think the fan is replaceable or will I need to get a new unit?

It could be something in the fan blade, the motor itself or even another component causing the noise. I have found some with bad fan motors, transformers, capacitors, relays, and motherboards making noises. Be very careful that you disconnect 12 vdc and the 120/240 vac power supply while you access or remove the cover. Then power it back up when you are ready to troubleshoot the unit. Good luck and keep us posted.

Go to a computer type store and buy a can of compressed air. Give the insides a good 'airing out' to remove the dust/crud that accumulates in these things. In fact, I have just stuck the nozzle up close to the fan guard and blown it that way with good results.

I also blow out the keyboard and fan on my computer and any other such appliances.

Thank you. I will try the air first. When I was out there this morning the noise was gone so I did not take the cover off yet. I do not think a bearing noise would go away. Monaco has this thing in a sealed compartment. It is very clean in there but I also worry about the temperature. Although I have never felt it to be hot to the touch.
