I was ready to buy a Xantrex RS2000 inverter until I was told they were not servicable. So once out of warrenty it would be a good boat anchor. Does anyone have info about that. So then I started looking at the Magnum MS2012. Was told this company was started by a group of engineers from Xantrax and made in the USA which is a big plus for me. Has anyone had experience with Magnum. Thanks again for helping me go down the right road.

The Xantrex inverters are just as serviceable as any other would be up to a point. Many times a sales person might make these kinds of statements because they do not sell the brand you are looking for so be careful and check it all out with research. How will you be using the inverter; what kind of equipment? What size battery bank will it have? Let us know and we can help with a design if you do not already have one on board.

Hi Bill..We have the Magnun ME2012 and have had no problems with it at all. It will be replaced with the MS2012 if & when it goes out.
You will not need the 2012 unless you have 4 house batteries tied to it.
You should be able to find a good price on the Xantrex if you check with Joe & the guys at NorthWest RV Supply.
Good Luck with your project.

I have a Xantrex RS3000 and it has run flawlessly for the four years I've had it. I actually bought it used from a Xantrex repair center here in Colorado Springs. It had been warrantied and Xantrex replaced it for the previous owner with a different one. The repair center repaired it by replacing a main board inside the unit. I bought it at a good discount.
So apparently these units are serviceable.

I had to get my Xantrex RS2500 repaired last year. Xantrex doesn't make that model or parts for it any longer (says the factory), but I had no trouble getting replacement circuit boards at local shops in the Tampa Fl area. Eventually, though, they are going to be rare finds rather than readily available. Xantrex has a new product series called RV GS that replaces the old RS series. Specs seem pretty much the same.
Magnum seems to be the popular new brand, though. No reason not to pick that.
Correction: The RV GS replaces the Xantrex RV series, not the RS

Xantrex GS series Inverter/Converters are modified sign wave. This is not a replacement for the RS series which are of the full sign wave design.

You are right , Harry. The RV GS replaces the Xantrex RV series, not the RS series. My apologies to all for the mistake.

No apologies needed Gary. Xantrex makes so many model these days, that it is not that difficult to mix up the specs. I just happened to know as I had recently looked at the GS series but I was looking for a full sign wave design.
