Maytag Side by Side Bottom Freezer Icing Up

Maytag, based on the reviews attached, is apparently not the best choice for a residential refrigerator for those considering a residential refrigerator for their RV. Our 2011 TOUR Maytag residential fridge just started collecting ice and frost on the right and middle portion of the tray. Clean it out and it is back within 8 hours. In checking on Google, there are lots of frustrated customers who have this same issue. While we are now in Florida and cannot get to a service center, I will be calling Maytag service when we return to NC. I hope I have better results than the folks reporting on the Consumer Reports web site. In any case, it will be on my "nickle" as Winnebago will do nothing and it is past the 1 year warranty. Will keep you posted and hope your fridge does better.

What model do you have? We've never seen any problem like that on our Maytag.

Interesting. That's the exact model we have, except ours doesn't have the '5' on the end. And we've never had any icing problems with this unit.

Where exactly are you seeing the ice buildup?

Center by the light switch and right side top as you are looking at the door. Slides do not look very sturdy.....

You're talking about the bottom drawer freezer compartment, correct?

As I understand it, you can't get frost buildup unless you have a source of moisture entering the freezer. Have you checked to make sure the gasket around the drawer is sealing properly? Sounds like there's something wrong with it, probably on the top right corner.

If you Google for the Maytag you will get some interesting results.
The second post down has some dial adjustments involved.
