Anyone else have this problem? Sharpe Carousel, over the range digital display disappearing? We purchased our MH 5/1/03, had to replace the Microwave (luckily under warrantee, display disappearing) the unit 10 17/03. It's happening again, only beyond the warrantee. Grrrrrr! Any comments?
Thanks Tagalong

My Sharp display is missing many segments...Of course, it is out of warranty...I have heard that it is a common problem with the Sharp microwaves...especially the ones they put on in 03/04.

I did find this place
Sharp Microwave Display Repair that specializes in this repair for about $32. I am going to call them on Monday to make sure they are available. I already removed the keypad/display (which was really easy to do) and am ready to send it in...Seems cheaper than $200+ for a replacement.

OK! got the control panel back...The display is A-OK again. Just make sure you take a pic of the wiring on the back of the control panel...I am glad I did that. There are 2 sets of wires that goes into identical looking connectors...

Thanks for the followup LandHo! We're still debating whether to fix the display or just deal with it. It'll be interesting to see just how long the repair lasts.

I give a one-year warranty on the repairs.

We have been dealing with ours for over a year now.

I talked to William on the phone and thus sent mine off to him last week.

You would think with this many going bad Sharp would step up and fix them under warranty or replace the MW.

I had the display repaired in our Sharp several years ago and it's still working great. AND, it has gotten a LOT of use.

I am having the same problem with my microwave....for those of you that made the repair yourself...do you have to remove the microwave to make the repair...on my unit it looks like I need to drop the hood over the stove in order to remove the microwave

Same goes for me. I sent in my 2003 microwave display for repair and it didn't last six months before it all garbled up. The repair was around 32 dollars. So much for that. Now I just put up with the un-readable display.

I do not have a sharp. (I have a Dometic, and it was made by Lucky Goldstar, and as always I was not lucky enough for a Goldstar to work properly.. It was re-made by me and now works properly, but I had to modify one part and replace another with a GE part)

I have, however, read dozens of posts about Sharp microwave display and control issues Check with Sharp. IT might be covered.
