The large Mr Buddy will run on the low pressure propane in the coach with a quick connect to Buddy. It will also run from the small green disposable bottles, has 2 bottle connections. The 2 bottles will last around 4 hours at Med heat.
If we have hook ups, we use the furnace, for dry camping, the Buddy.
Don’t ever use the large 5lb propane bottles indoors.

I think those exchange tanks are considered 5 gallon, not 50 lbs. Many people can not lift that much.
Do not use the large tanks indoors because they can vent propane fumes. Set it outdoors and run hose thru a window.

Hi Harry,

Thats what I thought. Any issues with damaging paint with the hose?

Not if you are careful. Wrap it foam pipe insulation or pool noodle!

We have a Mr. Heater, 20,000 BTU. The gas supply now comes from a line I added by using a T connector on our refrigerator gas supply. We used a 5 gallon bottle inside until the line was plumbed in.

If your RV is tight, you’ll need to open a vent and a window. If it’s not, you may not need the window.

I would not leave it on unattended. Ours has a tip over feature and a low oxygen sensor. We have used it overnight without issue, many times. Ours will over heat our 5er, 80+ degrees, very quickly, if we allow it to. We are currently in Alaska and have been using it daily. Wouldn’t consider being without it.

I did you install the line yourself or have a tech do it?

Where do you put the hose when not in use?

I picked up a Mr Buddy portable earlier, I got 4 1lb canisters.

I will keep it as a backup.

We had a tech run a line to our kitchen island for our Mr. Buddy and keep it on the floor by the island. We also bought the electric adapter fro running the fan. You need to buy the special propane hose from them when attaching the Mr. Buddy to the line. I forget why, maybe there is a regulator of some sort in it.

Love the Mr. Buddy over the catalytic heater. Smaller footprint, easier to light, better heat control and love the fan.

Thanks Sue,

We don't full time and only dry camp occasionally so probaly won't plumb it in. Must see how long a line Inl can get to run through a window.

Many years ago, I modified a Mr Buddy to be able to plug into the house low pressure system directly so I didn't need to use the little one lb bottles.. Later I re-modified it and completely removed the internal regulator.

I used a quick disconnect hose an fittings, I also placed a valve in the supply line to make sure propane was off when I had the Mr Buddy disconnected..

Here is an old link to a thread where I modified the Mr Buddy originally.. I would recommend removing the regulator completely. Although I'll never be able to use the 1 lb bottles again, I eliminated a potential leak source when hooked up to my house propane

I put a T in the gas line under the refer that also supplies the furnace. Drilled a hole in that cabinet and ran the gas hose under the couch to the front. Hose lives under the couch, when in use Buddy sits on dog house.
My couch is right next to the refer, along drivers side wall.
The large Buddy will work from high pressure or small green bottles. Heats fast, most of the time on low.
