Mushy Kwikee Steps-Cam Stop Adjustment
My steps look kind of off kilter when extended, the right side looks a little lower and the steps are more angled than they should be.
Super Dave investigated yesterday and found that a rubber collar/grommet on the bolt is wearing off, causing this. Everything is bolted securely, but this rubber grommet/collar is wearing out (under my tonnage no doubt -grin)
I can't find schematics of this to see where to get replacements...
Any help is appreciated!

Hi Kent.
I would shoot an email to the techs at Power Gear. They may be able to point you in the right direction.

That looks like the Cam stop and may be metal.
Using 2, 1/2" wrenches, loosen the cam stop nut with one wrench and rotate the cam stop with the other wrench.
Once the stop is pushing against the leg and taken all the play out of the step frame, tighten the cam step nut so it won't back off.
Be sure that both stops are tightened and that they rest securely against the leg.

Thanks Triker!
Whem2fish did you see that?
I can't see where those rubber grommets are but maybe you can. Very good info on the last 2 pages of the pdf.

Yup .... almost positive it's metal (no rubber).

I just read in that pdf of service/maintenance issues NOT to use WD-40 OR Silicone!
SOMEONE told me to use WD-40 to clean the joints/steps then follow up with Silicone.
So I guess I'll do what the Manufacturer recommends instead and use their Kwikee grease!!
Quote:
Maintenance and Lubrication
Clean all mud, salt, and road grime from the step before lubricating. Lubricate all moving parts (bearings, pivot points, slides, clevis pin, and drive linkage ball) every 30 days with a good quality moisture and heat resistant penetrating grease. KwikLubeTM Spray Grease is specially formulated to lubricate Kwikee Electric Steps and is recommended for lubricating all moving parts. Refer to the
figures below for lubrication locations. NOTE: Silicone lubricants and WD-40 are not recommended as they have a tendency to evaporate and dry the mating surfaces which leave them vulnerable to the elements.

I used their product and never had any issues. It may be more ( not sure) but it's worth it IMO.
