I have a Sharp MW/convection oven that shuts off after 59 seconds, regardless of which mode is used. Then we hit the "start" button again and it instantly starts and runs for another 59 seconds, etc. Everything works well except apparently the timer. I've emailed Sharp about the problem and they tell me to call customer service. When I do, I'm either misdirected or no one answers, so no help there.

My problem is that I'm in the middle of nowhere for another two months and service help isn't exactly plentiful. Does anyone have any suggestions for a electronically/mechanically challenged person on how to repair this product or even what the problem is? Unfortunately, it is not a throw away item as it is fairly pricey.

You have a bad damper motor or the micro switch at the damper. I would recommend you have a qualified service technician make the repairs for you if you are not very familiar with removing and re-installing the unit and able to disassemble the case for replacing the motor or switch.
