National Slideout Adjustments

I've read some old posts and hope someone can offer some information about the slide-out system on my '99 Sea View. I believe that it was manufactured by Power Gear, and there are rollers available from Alexander. I've checked all their tech manuals that I could find, but still can't locate a diagram of the system.

My slide seems to be low BOTH on the inside and outside (grabbing the carpet inside, and gouging the underside of the floor outside) I read the old post about shimming the rails, which sounded logical, and I read about running the slide up on wooden "wedges" to get a look underneath from inside the rig. What I'd like to know is - how many rollers are there in the system? From outside the rig I can only see two pairs - one on each rail. It seems like there must be another pair of rollers on the inboard end, but I can't see them, so naturally I can't ACCESS them.

The tech at Alexander said that he has never heard of the rollers wearing down (diameter) only sometimes wearing FLAT. So I'm trying to figure out where to make adjustments. If I adjust UP at the outboard end of the rail, that will lower the INSIDE of the slide, and only make the problem inside worse. The whole unit needs to come up. It seems that the suggestion posted in a much older thread about putting aluminum shim stock between the rails and the rollers is the best solution.

Anyone had any experience with these?

Welcome to irv2. The techs at Power Gear are available via email. Their address is info@powergearus.com . Hopefully they can assist.

Thanks Cliff for that referral. The support was great, and emails were replied to in less than an hour! Very helpful. I get frustrated with so many manufacturers that don't do tech support. "Call a dealer" they say. The Power Gear folks were all about support, and that was refreshing!

Have you posted in the National RV Owners Forum. You may get more responses there. Beside rollers National also used plastic skip plates. I know sgtjoe was looking for some a while back and had found a company to make them. Here's one of his posts http://www.irv2.com/forums/f105/livi...te-201857.html You can search on his user name to find the rest. You can send him a PM the check the status of the skid plates. Your problem may be the plates are worn.

Mine doesn't use the plates. I got enough info from Power Gear to make an adjustment to the slide and I'm OK for now. Problem is if I have trouble again I don't have any adjustment left.
