I've got a problem with my 12v front ceiling lights. There are 2 switches that control the same lights, like a 3 way switch set up. When 1 of the 2 switches is turned on the lights short out and trip a breaker. when the other switch is turned on the lights work. I know I have a short somewhere so I began by removing the switches. When I removed the switches they don't appear to be conventional 3 way switches, they look like normal single pole switches. Although each switch has 3 wires attached two joined on one side and one on the other.
I barely understand 120v 3 way switches, can anybody explain or show a wiring diagram of how this could work?
