I am sure I could replace it - I could replace an ac plug on an ac cord - but I am not sure they call it a plug or where to buy it. It's a cheap vacuum from Family Dollar, but it works well - or did, until the metal side piece on the plug broke. I don't want to track down a whole new vacuum when a simple plug will do. Where does one get them? I don't recall ever seeing them at hardware stores, but I wasn't looking for them then...

Try Radio Shack? Otherwise, try about any auto accessory site or store; you may have to buy a cheap heater or something like that, just make sure that DC plug comes apart and isn't glued together...Or just splice the cords...

I bought a couple of cigarette lighter-type plugs for replacements at Walmart. Look for the electrical accessories (bulbs, switches, connectors, etc.) in the auto dept.

WalMart, Radio Shack, automotive store...Just amke sure you get the polarity right when you hook it up...plus (+) and minus (-) to the correct sides or it will run backwards.

Radio Shack and any and all auto parts store.. Go with a heavy duty model.

NOTE: unlike an AC cord it is important to make sure you keep the PLUS (Center pin) and MINUS (Side contacts) Straight.. A dab of red paint on the PLUS side will help here.

Use a meter to decide which is which unless the old plug is smashed and you can see what goes where. Or.... Use a hammer and smash the old plug, Either method works. Use eye protection if hammering.
