Can someone please help me.. I need a spark plug for a "Onan Emerald 3" 6.5 NHE-1R. There was no spark plug in it when I got it. I can't seem to find a cross reference chart. I'd like to be able to just use a Champion or even Autolite.

Can't help on locating a plug but would be interested in hearing what happens when you do install one.

Do you have any idea why the plug was missing?

Onan Generators - SmokStak

Champion RS17YX seem to be it.. Champion Spark plugs developed especially for Onan Emerald & Marquis Gensets.
Identical to Onan 167-0272. Replaces Onan 167-0272-99 (twin pack).

Require the spark gap to be set at .025" (25 thousandths of an inch). Probably less for propane fueled engines.

You need 2..

KrazzyKitt....I think that number you gave is for an NGK spark plug. They're good plugs and OEM. Why would you want to change. Last I looked, places like Pep Boys, Autozone, Kragen and others sold them.

I used the champion..works like a champ! Lol. Thanks guys. This forum is the best! As for why it was missing I can only guess.. its like when I bought this rig, there were AC Delco plugs in this Ford motor along with 2 different kinds of spark plug wires. Who does that? And you don't replace a 5 amp fuse with a 30 amp. Sure these things might be ok for emergency situations, but not for long term. I can go on and on about what the previous owners did. But I wont, lol. I'm just glad my generator works...thanks to you guys.

Well at least he was consistent. Did everything the wrong way.
