New converter

I plan to buy a Boondocker converter. I have a battery bank with 4 Costco 6 volts batteries, plus the 12 volt on the chassis. What are the advantages or disadvantages to buying the 75 amp or 100 amp. I want the fastest recharge I can get. I don't really care about the slight difference in cost. Will the larger unit charge faster? Are there any down sides to the larger unit?

I 'think' the higher amp converter/chargers, are more for charging greater numbers of batteries.

More amps are better***

*** as long as the rate of charge does not exceed the charge rating of Battery.

And charge voltage does not overcharge while in "float".

Search Forums for Battery charging, lots of good information as well as mixed opinions.

The factory data sheet for the Battery trumps all else, if 25 amps is specified rate of charge with higher rate okay for short periods then the charger needs to be within those limitatations for optimum Battery performance

The bulk charging that occurs after heavy use would be greater with the 100amp converter so with four batteries, I'd go with the 100amp unit.

If you hardly ever get off the grid, or only for a day at a time before plugging into shore power, the 75 amp unit would be fine.

We are always off the grid, except at home. I want to be able to recharge the batteries as quickly as possible with the Onan 5500 generator. According to my Trimetric 2025rv it took 5.5 hours to recharge from 55% to 91% yesterday. seemed very slow.
