Okay Guys and Gals,
My wife and are I thinking of following our friends GoneFishen's lead at the rally and buy ourselves the "Pressure Pro" for our tires which is probably a sure thing.

My question now is, has anyone had any experience with the new "Hughes Autoformer"? The dealer says that the new one does the job of tripping the power like a surge protector if shore power is too bad. It also does it's regular job of boosting the voltage when it's low. I deffinately want to get a surge protector, but if I can save money (smirk) by buying the Autoformer now instead of later, I'd like to do that since it does the job of both. Bummer thing though, is that it weighs 50 pounds. Yikes

Hughes.

Had bad experience with the Frank's autoformer. Well, not the unit per se, with the manufacturer.

AK,

I heard at last year's F.M.C.A. Brooksville, FL Rally that Hughes was coming out with a new unit. I will probably see one in February. I have used mine for about 10 years now. Returned 2 times under warrenty. Second time they sent me a new one. No problem since. They stand behind their warrenty. Only PITA is shipping 50 lbs from FL to CA and last time they wanted $25 to ship it back.

Green lights and soft breezes,

Hey Brick! We're here in Quartzsite and just picked up the new Hughes Autoformer today. If you have any questions I can pass them on to the dealer here, Tom Eaton, and get his reply back to you. This is the new model and does weigh about 50 lbs. We've been having some interesting electrical problems in the last few days and the Autoformer should give us some needed electrical protection down the road.

How do you know if you have a new one? By serial number? Mine is an RV220-50, serial number 18663, picked up as a replacement from Camping World on 12/18/07. Is the "new one" a different size?

We have the RV450 which is different in size and inside electronics. It doesn't have the three LED system lights on the case and is about twenty percent larger than last years model. The dealer here is still offering the last model in addition to the new one and says it is a very good unit. The new one costs about $125.00 more though.
