Just wondered if anyone has had "'real world" experience with this new pump?

We have a new rig with the Shurflo classic 2088 unit and my DW hates it, the noise and cycling is nerve-racking. (yes, it been checked and compared to a like new one).

Our last unit had the Shurflo Smart Sensor 5.7 which ran flawlessly for over 4 years of FTing. Many folks that I mention it to, say I was real lucky cause most are trouble prone. Many techs have told me that too.

I appreciate any feedback of those that have this new pump in service. Good or bad......I just wonder if I'm spending my money correctly to upgrade. Thanks!!! rockintom

rockintom, One of the very first upgrades that I did on my motorhome was to upgrade the pump. I use a ShurFlo 5.7 Pump and it's great. It is basically quiet and it puts out a lot of water. The OE pump was a 3.8 and it rattled the RV quite severely.

If you are going to do this upgrade go for it. Just make sure that you do not output the pump to a 90° bend. I actually cut a flexible hose longer than required and made a loop before connecting it to the plumbing. In this manner there are no corners in the output line.

I installed a Shurflo 5.7 on our last coach. It lasted about 4 years and the electronics died. Replaced with a standard 3.8.

Our new coach has a 3.8 and a small bladder tank and works very well.

A rattling pump is usually a sign of how it is mounted rather than the pump itself. Here are some sugestions:

The Shurflo in our older '88 Winnie MH looks to be original, and the mounting method must have lots to do with the noise issue, because I can hardly hear it even when listening carefully. The newer replacement Shurflo in our 5er is far more noticeable, but it's mounted inside the living space under the couch, whereas the in the MH, it's down in one of the basement compartments. This doesn't answer the specific question the OP asked, but is offered to support the other comments that the way and place the pump is installed MIGHT be of lots more importance than the specific type...

Actually, I prefer to hear it at least a little bit, in case a faucet or other plumbing component is leaking or not completely shut off, and drains the fresh water, or fills the waste tanks - had that happen once, narrowly avoided a MAJOR catastrophe...
